2021 The Other Wine Co. Arinto
Riverland | Ricca Terra Farms
Our latest adventure in the new, the other, and the different, has been a fascinating process working with the Portuguese white variety Arinto.
With the 2021 vintage, our second release, we gave this some skin contact for one parcel, whole bunch pressing for another, and some time in old oak, giving us a wine of freshness, balance, and interest.
Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion 90 points
Hand-picked, 1 portion saw 14 days fermenting as whole bunches in sealed fermenters then pressed to old oak to finish fermentation, 1 portion was whole bunch squeezed then fermented in oak. Winemaker Matt Large considers the Portuguese grape with its high acidity to be highly suited to a warm climate like the Riverland. Skin contact is on display here in this restrained, elegant white with its warm, textural intrigue dressed in bright citrus, apple, ginger snap and spice. Acidity is nicely tamed bringing a tight finish.
Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Light, bright yellow colour, the bouquet lifted with a note of volatile (ethyle acetate) plus a suggestion of oak barrel. There’s a substantial phenolic grip as well. This need food.

Quite restrained, fresh pear and apple armoas here. This has been wound in tight. The palate is taut and dry with plenty of acidity. Very tart.
