2020 The Other Wine Co. Arinto

Riverland | Ricca Terra Farms

“It’s grown on the noted Ricca Terra Farms vineyard. I don’t know a great deal about the variety, I should confess, though I assume it’s from Portugal. The back label suggests that it tastes “saline” and while I’d agree with that, I wouldn’t call this character pronounced. It’s fruit-driven as much as anything. There’s a savouriness around the edges and while it’s fruity, it also well honed, which is the effect the saline character has. It draws the palate in, and together. It’s a pretty handy wine. Food friendly, no doubt.”

“The nose is lifted and has notes of a lemony musk, honey, green apple and sea salt. There’s something pastoral too – dried cornhusk, perhaps. The palate is very fine, with a soft grip of textures popping up here and there. There’s a fine, macadamia powder nuance that lingers retro-nasally. The back palate shows a little more richness, more stone fruit. Fresh acid swirls from the back palate and sparkles for a savoury finish.”

“The wine has a pale and youthful colour with understates pear, citrus and waxy fruits in a bright and clean style. The wine is then dry and savoury on the palate with delicate tropical and floral fruits underscored by tangy acidity and that salty edge. It is undoubtedly made for early drinking but provides plenty more interest than your average dry white. Pair it up with a mixed seafood grill.”

"This has attractive lemon and waxy, grassy aromas in a fresh, bright mode. The palate has almost biscuit-like, savory flavors with crisp and bright lemons and pears. An easy-drinking dry white gently layered texture."
